Teaching Chess Basics Course
Our beginner-friendly chess course is designed for teachers seeking balanced activities for students. Teachers will access our unique mini-games approach to break learning into digestible pieces. Our chess courses provide spaces where teachers can feel embraced and build genuine relationships beyond the chessboard.
We’re interested in working with educators who have no experience with chess. We specialize in teaching the basics with a motivational style that’s more effective when the person learning has no preconceived ideas about chess other than a few misconceptions, perhaps.
Everyone can join in and enjoy this learning process, whether for your family, as an aspiring teacher, or simply as someone interested in basic ideas. Our experienced coaches will walk you through the basics, making it easy and enjoyable.
Intergenerational learning is a key component we help educators bring to this experience, in which the teacher and student learn not only about relationships on the board, but more importantly, about their relationship with each other.
Studying chess as a beginner is unique in this way. The game can bridge the gap between different age groups, where conversation can flourish. That's been our experience with chess education, and it's been awe-inspiring
In a practical sense, studying chess is a tool that helps children begin to see what's around the corner and connect cause and effect in a less theoretical way, and instead in a more concrete, observational way that strengthens intuition.
We believe socialization and teamwork are important in education, but we also think that independent thinking can add a more balanced approach.
Reserve spots today for a $10 booking charge and enjoy a group call with us to discuss various development paths for playing and teaching chess basics. With that, each participant on the call will receive a 20% discount on our 18-hour courses.
Teacher Surveys
Complimentary pricing is now available to teachers who complete all surveys and provide objective feedback. Teacher surveys will be conducted throughout 2026 to identify the best classroom locations in your area. Ideally, we would like to conduct our instructor-led classes on-site daily, but we realize this may not be possible for all participants.
A 90-minute class duration has been set, but further surveys to increase participation will reveal preferred class sizes, class frequency, overall course duration, and preferred teacher roles, such as course refinement or assisting with business growth.
Once all survey responses are compiled and classes are scheduled throughout your area, attendance will be taken to ensure everyone is prepared for increasingly challenging teaching drills.
Our first official “Teaching Chess Basics” course will launch in the Spring of 2027.
Group Calls
These are 2-hour casual meet-and-greets held at various times throughout each week with people we want to get to know and have meaningful and lasting conversations with. We would love to share with you our passion for chess and chess education. This is a great opportunity for you to get to know more about the other participants.
We will take a few moments to discuss your teacher survey responses and chart a path together for further development of learning and teaching chess basics and beyond. We will send you a printable PDF of your survey responses to have handy during our discussion, along with a course guide to coordinate class dates with your learning group.
We are very much looking forward to this meeting with you. It will be a great honor for us to witness those "aha moments" you will experience throughout the course.
